I know!

So I know that it has been forever and I still have not really gotten going on this but things have been extremely hectic with Thanksgiving, my grandma dying, Christmas parties, my grandpa dying, and then Christmas. I know that I shouldn't use excuses but I really do think that these reasons can be justified. I did, however, get two new games that I think will be very helpful with losing weight while using my Wii. I got the Wii Fit Plus game and the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum game for Christmas. I really can't wait to get started! I have decided that I will officially start on January 1, 2010. I figure that losing weight is a great New Year's Resolution and I know that I would benefit from it! So stay tuned! Watch as my weight and waistline drop and I start to fit into my skinny jeans again! HALLELUJAH!!!

What Wii Games Will I Play?

So the Wii was ultimately designed to make gamers more active, at least that's what I believe. However, I don't think that playing Guitar Hero serves that purpose very well. That is why I have decided that there are certain games that need to be played in order to help me lose weight.

The obvious main game is the Wii Fit, which I have, but I don't know which other games will be very helpful for me. I have decided to experiment to see which games make me physically sore and give me the feeling of working out without having to go to the gym.

I NEED SUGGESTIONS!!!

Tell me what has worked for you, what has NOT worked for you, or what someone has suggested to use.

I will keep you posted on the games I choose to use!

Why 4 Bottles of Water Each Day?

Several websites will advise you to follow the "8 x 8" rule. This means to drink 8 eight-ounce glasses of water each day.

A typical water bottle contains 16.9 fluid ounces of water. Four bottles of water is equal to 67.6 fluid ounces and 8 eight-ounce glasses of water is equal to 64 fluid ounces.

I just figure that the easiest way to measure what I am drinking is to use a water bottle that I can just refill and mark throughout the day to keep track of how much water I am drinking.

Although drinking water is super important, it is also super important not to drink too much water, so be careful!

What is a BMI and what is my BMI?

BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is used to calculate your body fat percentage based on your height and your weight.

If you google BMI you will get several results that help you to calculate your BMI and find out if you are underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. According to http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ underweight is a BMI less than 18.5, normal weight is 18.5-24.9, overweight is 25-29.9, and obesity is 30 or more.

Currently my BMI is ranging between 27.4 and 28.2 which is a big reason for my weightloss decision, seeing as I easily fall into the "overweight" category.

I personally don't know how much I want to rely on a BMI to determine my state of health because I know from the education that I have had that muscle weighs more than fat. I'm not saying that I am a bodybuilder or anything, but I am fairly muscular.

I am bound and determined to find a more accurate fat calculator but until I do, I will be using the BMI.

Starting Up!

Okay, so I am sick of being called "overweight" by textbooks and research so I am going to do something about it...with my Wii!!! I am actually pretty excited because I think that having fun while doing something that is necessary is the key to success!

I am going to weigh myself frequently but due to my lack of time I plan to only measure myself and assess my BMI (Body Mass Index) once per month, probably on the first. I will then post the information on this blog to track my progress, which I am hoping will exist.

Obviously exercise is not the only answer to weight loss but after doing some research, I don't think I will ever diet again! Instead, I plan to eat every three hours and drink at least 4 water bottles worth of water each day. It won't be easy, but I think that by putting myself out there and making it so everyone can know that I am trying to lose weight, I will be more driven to do so.

I am hoping to come up with a good workout routine with the wii that I will also post if I am able to figure one out! Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
