Day 1

So my goals are to exercise for 2.5 hours per week, drink 64 ounces (4 water bottles) of water per day, and to eat every three hours. I don't expect myself to be perfect at this from the start, which is why they are "goals". Here is my data for today:

Date of Assessment: January 1st, 2010

Time of Day Assessed: 12:30 PM

Height: 5'6"

Weight: home scale (174 lb), Wii Fit scale (167.3 lb), Jillian Michaels scale (173.23 lb)

BMI: home scale (28.1), Wii Fit scale (26.89), Jillian Michaels scale (28.0)

Measurements:
  • Thighs: left (27"), right (27")
  • Butt: 42.5"
  • Hips: 39"
  • Waist/Abdomen: 32.5"
  • Chest: 40"
  • Biceps: left (12"), right (12")
As you can see if you refer to the data I posted on BMI's, I am considered overweight no matter which weight you use. With my measurements, I plan to include inches lost/gained with each major assessment, which will be once a month. There is also an obvious difference between my home scale and the Wii Fit scale. Because of this, I plan to weigh myself more regularly on my home scale than on my Wii Fit scale. I will also be using the Jillian Michaels scale because I found it to be fairly accurate in comparison to my home scale. I will be keeping track of my progress using my home scale and my BMI based on my weight with my home scale.

While I will be exercising for 2.5 hours per week, I am going to try to only do 30 minutes of one wii fit game in one day so I can have a variety of exercises to keep me interested and motivated. Today I did 30 minutes with the Wii Fit. I did all of the yoga poses that I have unlocked and a few strength training exercises that the Wii Fit suggested to do with the yoga poses I was doing. Then I did 30 minutes with Jillian Michaels: The Fitness Ultimatum. WOW! It was KILLER!!! I am still shaking! I cannot believe how effective this game is! I would recommend it to anyone! It lets you set how long you want to workout for (I did 30 minutes), what you want to work on (weight loss is what I selected), and after your workout that it sets up for you, it tells you how many calories you burned and it gives you a score on each part of your exercise. I loved/hated it! You know how those love/hate relationships can go!

So some other things I have decided to do are to drink a protein shake every day and take a multivitamin every day. The protein shake will be made using 1 cup of skim milk, which is a HUGE sacrifice for me, 1 cup of frozen berries/fruit, and 1 scoop of protein powder, making for 16 more ounces of water each day! HAHAHA!!! I am just going to use a multivitamin from Wal-Mart because it will serve the purpose! I can't emphasize enough how big of a sacrifice it is for me to use skim milk! I LOATHE IT!!! That is just how dedicated I am to losing weight! That is it for today! I will keep updating as I go!
